Toronto Public Library continues to explore new opportunities for delivering better services to our customers. This past year, we incorporated new and emerging technologies into virtual library services like the ability to buy books via our website and improved access to your library account online. We continued to animate library branches with inspired architecture and design, wired work spaces and audience-focused zones that accommodate collaborative work, co-creation and independent study. This is especially prominent in the revitalization project at Toronto Reference Library, as well as in our branch renovations detailed below.

Survey results demonstrate high levels of usage and satisfaction with Library services

The results of a recent survey conducted on behalf of the library demonstrate high levels of usage and satisfaction with library services: 72% of the adult population of Toronto accessed Library services in 2012 and 97% of those who used the service were satisfied with the overall quality of Library service in Toronto; 92% of residents, including users and non-users, indicated that public libraries are an important resource for the community. Toronto Public Library offers customers the option to buy books via its website to support the Library

Toronto Public Library is now offering customers the option to buy books via its website. When browsing for books, library customers will be able to select a "buy now" option that will link them to Indigo's website when there is a copy available to buy. Bloor/Gladstone Library to Celebrate 100 Years of Service

Toronto Public Library's Bloor/Gladstone branch, a much-loved community cornerstone, celebrated 100 years of service with events featuring local celebrity authors, community historical walking tours, festivities for kids and teens, and an all-day birthday party on Wednesday, October 23, exactly 100 years to the day the library originally opened. Torontonians Receive $5.63 of value for every dollar invested in Toronto Public Library

Toronto Public Library recently commissioned the Martin Prosperity Institute, part of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, to conduct the first Canadian study to measure the library's economic impact on Toronto. Results clearly demonstrate that Toronto Public Library delivers a strong return on investment through the delivery of library services that enhance Toronto's competitiveness and prosperity and contribute to a better quality of life for all.
