Pleasant View Branch Renovation and Expansion
About the renovation
The new Pleasant View branch will be a modern, accessible, and adaptable 10,000 sq. ft. library and will meet the current and future needs of its rapidly growing community. Expanding the branch to 10,000 sq. ft. will allow us to revitalize all public service areas, address state of good repair deficiencies, meet the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Toronto Green Standards, and position Pleasant View branch as a learning laboratory.
Other benefits of this renovation will include:
- welcoming and versatile branch with new digital equipment to support and reflect a wide range of interests and needs
- a variety of study, work, and collaborative/community spaces for all residents including seniors, teens, newcomers, students, children, and families.
Toronto Public Library has retained Lebel and Bouliane Architecture to design the new branch. There will be public consultations before, during, and after development of the plans through:
- public surveys, focus group sessions, and virtual community open houses
- meetings and interviews with relevant stakeholders, including City of Toronto representatives, community partners, local agencies and schools
- consultations with branch staff and other TPL departments
- regular communication and reporting to all stakeholders at key milestones throughout the project.
