Home Library Service
Toronto Public Library offers Home Library Service to Toronto residents who are homebound for three months or longer due to age, mobility, illness or disability.
How it works
Customers receive a monthly delivery, free of charge, of up to 20 items. Items can include regular print hardcovers and paperbacks, large print books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and DAISY Talking Books. For more information about library materials in accessible formats, visit Accessible Collections.
Does the Home Library Service lend DAISY players?
A DAISY player is needed to listen to DAISY Talking Books. A limited number of DAISY players are available for loan to eligible customers with print disabilities. For more information, contact the Home Library Service at 416-395-5557 or hls@tpl.ca.
How to apply
Customers can call 416-395-5557 or email hls@tpl.ca to apply. Home Library Service staff will verify your eligibility, tell you which day of the month your deliveries will arrive, and ask you about your reading interests and needs so that each month we can send you items that you will enjoy.
Winter service and Short Term Service
Winter service is available for customers who use mobility aids, or who otherwise are physically unable to visit the library. Short term service is available to those recovering from illness or injury lasting three months or longer.
How often do you deliver?
Items are delivered and picked up once a month on a pre-arranged schedule.
Options other than home delivery
We can arrange monthly deliveries to send items to your local library for a family member, caregiver or friend to pick up for you.
